The full story: The New Jerusalem

Part 1

Imagine a day when everything, absolutely everything, will be made new! The apostle John had an amazing vision that God showed him. He saw the end of the old things and the beginning of a new and perfect world.

In this new beginning, there will be no more sadness or crying. God promised to create a new heaven and a new earth, a wonderful place where He will live forever with the people who love Him.

Part 2

From heaven, John saw a spectacular city coming down! It was the New Jerusalem, a gift from God to His people. It shone brightly and looked like a beautiful bride, all dressed up for her wedding day.

This city was not built by human hands. It was prepared by God Himself, full of His glory and love. It was the perfect home everyone had always dreamed of.

I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. — Revelation 21:2

Part 3

The best part of all wasn't the streets of gold or the walls of precious stones. The most wonderful thing was that God Himself would be there, living with people, very close to them!

He would be their God, and they would be His people. All suffering would end forever, for God would wipe away every tear and mend every heart.

God: Now my home is with people! I will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or sadness or crying or pain.

Part 4

The city was made of materials we can't even imagine. Its streets were of pure gold, as clear as glass! Its walls were adorned with twelve kinds of precious stones, each one shining with a different color.

And you know what's even cooler? The city didn't need the sun or the moon to light it up. God's own glory was its light, and Jesus, the Lamb, was its lamp. God's light shone in every corner.

Part 5

In the middle of the city, a river of the water of life flowed, clear as crystal, coming from God's throne. On the banks of this river grew the Tree of Life, which bore new fruit every month.

The leaves of this tree were for the healing of the nations. Everyone who lived there would be able to see God's face and live with Him in joy and peace forever and ever. What a wonderful promise!

They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. — Revelation 22:4
