On the way, news came that the girl had died, but Jesus told Jairus: "Don't be afraid, only believe". At the house, everyone was crying. Jesus went into the room with the parents and three disciples, took the girl's hand, and said: "Talitha cumi", which means "Girl, get up". The full story: Jesus and Jairus's Daughter

Part 1

Jairus was one of the leaders of the synagogue in town. One day he ran to Jesus, very worried, and knelt at his feet.

His daughter, a twelve-year-old girl, was very sick.

Jairus to Jesus: My little daughter is at the point of death. Please come and lay your hands on her, that she may be made healthy, and live.

Part 2

Jesus went with Jairus, and a big crowd went along, pressing in on every side. On the way, Jesus even stopped to heal a woman who touched his clothes in faith.

Then people came from Jairus's house with very sad news: "Your daughter is dead. Why bother the Teacher any more?"

But Jesus looked at Jairus and said:

"Don't be afraid, only believe." — Mark 5:36

Part 3

At the house, everyone was crying loudly. Jesus said: "The child is not dead, but is asleep." And the people laughed at him.

Jesus sent everyone out. Only the father, the mother, and three disciples stayed: Peter, James, and John. And he went with them into the room where the girl was lying.

"Why do you make an uproar and weep? The child is not dead, but is asleep." — Mark 5:39

Part 4

Jesus took the girl by the hand and said: "Talitha cumi!", which means: "Girl, get up!"

Right away, the girl got up and began to walk! Her parents were amazed. And Jesus, so caring, told them to give her something to eat.

Jesus has power even over death, and he cares for every child. When we are afraid, we can remember: "Don't be afraid, only believe."

"Taking the child by the hand, he said to her, 'Talitha cumi!' which means, being interpreted, 'Girl, I tell you, get up!'" — Mark 5:41
