The full story: The Wedding at Cana

Part 1

In the town of Cana, in Galilee, there was a big wedding party. Jesus' mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples were invited too.

Everyone was eating, talking, and celebrating with the bride and groom.

"The third day, there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee. Jesus' mother was there." — John 2:1

Part 2

In the middle of the party, there was a problem: the wine ran out! In those days, that would be a great embarrassment for the couple's family.

Mary noticed and went to tell Jesus: "They have no wine." Then she said to the servants:

Mary to the servants: Whatever he says to you, do it.

Part 3

There were six big stone water jars there, used for washing according to their customs. Jesus told the servants to fill the jars with water.

They obeyed and filled them to the brim. Then Jesus told them to draw some out and take it to the head of the feast, the person in charge of the party.

"Jesus said to them, 'Fill the water pots with water.' So they filled them up to the brim." — John 2:7

Part 4

The head of the feast tasted it and was amazed: the water had turned into wine, and it was very good wine! He didn't know where it came from, but the servants knew.

He called the groom and said: "You have kept the good wine until now!"

This was Jesus' first sign. He cares even about problems that seem small. And Mary left us great advice: do whatever Jesus tells you.

"This beginning of his signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him." — John 2:11
