The full story: Naaman Is Healed

Part 1

Naaman was a great commander of the army of Aram (Syria). He was very brave and important, but he had a problem that made him very sad: a skin disease called leprosy.

In Naaman's house, a young girl from Israel worked. One day, she told Naaman's wife that in her homeland there was a prophet of God who could heal him. What good news!

Part 2

With his king's permission, Naaman set off for Israel. He brought expensive gifts: gold, silver, and new clothes. First, he went to the king of Israel, who was scared and thought it was a trap.

But Elisha, the prophet of God, heard about it. He sent a message to the king, telling him not to worry and to send Naaman to him.

Elisha: Let him come to me, and he will know that there is a prophet in Israel.

Part 3

Naaman arrived at Elisha's house with his horses and chariots, expecting a grand ceremony. But Elisha didn't even come out to see him! Instead, he sent a messenger with a simple and strange command: go and wash yourself seven times in the Jordan River.

Naaman was furious! He expected the prophet to do something magnificent. He thought the rivers in his own land were much better than the Jordan and decided to leave, very angry.

Part 4

Naaman's servants approached him wisely. They said that if the prophet had asked for something difficult, he would have done it. Why not try something so simple?

Naaman thought about it and saw that they were right. He went down to the Jordan River and dipped himself in the water. One, two, three... until the seventh time! When he came up, his skin was perfect and healthy, like a baby's.

So he went down to the Jordan River and dipped himself seven times, just as the man of God had told him. And his skin became like the skin of a young boy. He was completely clean! — 2 Kings 5:14

Part 5

Full of joy, Naaman returned to thank Elisha. Now, he not only had his skin healed, but also his heart transformed. He wanted to give all his gifts to Elisha, but the prophet accepted nothing.

Naaman promised that from that day forward, he would worship only the God of Israel. He learned that God's power is immense and that obedience, even in the simplest things, can bring the greatest blessings.

Naaman: Now I know that there is no God anywhere else in the whole world except in Israel!
