Part 1

Hi, friends! I'm Peter, one of Jesus' best friends. A long time ago, after Jesus went back to heaven, I wrote a special letter to other friends of Jesus who lived far away.

My letter was like a big paper hug, full of love and courage. I wanted them to know that God hadn't forgotten them, even though they were scattered in many different places.

Part 2

In my letter, I reminded them of something amazing: they were chosen by God! They were like living, precious stones that God was using to build a very special spiritual house, where He Himself would live.

Each one of them was an important part of God's big family. Together, they made a wonderful team to show God's love to everyone around them.

But you are chosen people. You are royal priests. You are a holy nation. You are God’s very own people... — 1 Peter 2:9

Part 3

I also gave them very important advice: live in a way that pleases God. Even if some people weren't kind to them, they should always choose to do good and love one another.

By being kind, honest, and full of love, they would be like little lights shining in the dark. People would see their good actions, and their hearts might turn to God.

Peter (in the letter): Most important of all, love each other deeply. Love will cause you to forgive many, many wrongs.

Part 4

Sometimes, following Jesus could be a little hard. Some people didn't understand and even treated them badly just because they loved God. I told them not to be afraid and to keep trusting God.

I reminded them that Jesus Himself went through hard times because of His love for us. But He won, and because of that, we can also be strong and brave with His help.

Part 5

Finally, my letter was full of hope! I told them to be very happy, because something wonderful was waiting for them. An inheritance in heaven that never spoils, never fades, and is kept safe by God for them.

This happy hope was like a strength for their hearts. No matter what happened, they knew that the end of the story would be a big party with Jesus forever!

...He has given us a new birth. We have a living hope because Jesus Christ rose from the dead... — 1 Peter 1:3
