The full story: Solomon's Temple

Part 1

King David had a very wise son named Solomon. Before David went to heaven, God made him a promise: his son would build a very special house for Him, a place for all the people to worship God.

When Solomon became king, he remembered this important mission. With a heart full of joy, he prepared to build the Temple of the Lord, the most beautiful house the world had ever seen.

Part 2

Solomon called for the best builders and searched for the most special materials. He brought strong, fragrant cedar wood from distant mountains. The stones used in the building were giant and were perfectly cut before they even arrived.

Something amazing happened: during the construction, no sound of hammers or tools was heard! Everything fit together silently, like a giant puzzle. It was a job done with great care and peace.

When the temple was being built, no sound of hammers, chisels or any other iron tools could be heard. — 1 Kings 6:7

Part 3

After seven years, the Temple was finished! On the outside, it was magnificent, but on the inside, it was breathtaking. Solomon covered the walls and floor with pure gold. Everything shone like the sun!

On the wooden walls, talented artists carved beautiful designs. There were flowers, palm trees, and special angels called cherubim, showing the beauty of God's creation.

Part 4

Inside the Temple, there was the most secret and special room of all: the Most Holy Place. It was where God's presence would be. No one could go in there except the chief priest, once a year.

To guard this place, Solomon had two giant wooden angels made, covered in gold. Their enormous wings touched in the middle of the room, protecting the most sacred place in God's house.

God: If you follow my rules and obey my laws, I will be with you and with my people in this house you have built.

Part 5

Solomon's Temple was much more than a building of gold and wood. It was a sign of God's love for His people. It was a place to pray, sing, and learn about the Lord.

Solomon kept the promise God made to his father, David. He built a wonderful house, a place on Earth where heaven and earth seemed to meet.

I will live among the Israelites. I will not desert my people Israel. — 1 Kings 6:13
