The full story: The Wise Men

Part 1

Far, far away, in a land in the East, lived very wise men. They loved to look at the sky at night and study the stars.

One night, a new and very bright star appeared in the sky! It was different from all the others. They knew that this star was a special sign from God: the new King had been born.

Full of joy, they packed their camels and prepared gifts. They decided to follow the star to find and worship the new King.

Part 2

The journey was long, crossing deserts and mountains. Finally, the wise men arrived at the great city of Jerusalem.

They began to ask everyone they met, because they really wanted to know where the King was. When King Herod heard this, he became very worried.

Wise Men: Where is the newborn King of the Jews? We saw his star in the East and have come to worship him.

Part 3

King Herod didn't want another king in his place. He called his advisers and asked where the Scriptures said the Christ was to be born.

Herod then secretly called the wise men. He asked them to find the child and then let him know, pretending that he also wanted to worship him.

"Bethlehem... out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people." — Matthew 2:6

Part 4

The wise men left the palace, and to their joy, the star they had seen in the East appeared again! Their hearts were filled with happiness.

The star went ahead of them, showing the way. It stopped exactly over the place where the child Jesus was with his mother, Mary.

Part 5

As they entered the house, they saw the child Jesus. Their hearts filled with love, and they knelt down to worship him.

Then they opened their treasure chests and gave Jesus special gifts: gold, a gift for a king; frankincense, used to worship God; and myrrh, a valuable perfume.

That night, God warned the wise men in a dream not to go back to King Herod. So, they obeyed and returned home by another road, keeping the little Jesus safe.
