Part 1

On Mount Sinai, God gave Moses the Ten Commandments on stone tablets. But He wanted something more: God wanted to live close to His people!

He commanded them to build a very special, all-golden box called the Ark of the Covenant. It was the holiest place of all!

"Have them build a holy place for me. Then I will live among them." — Exodus 25:8

Part 2

The Ark was made of strong wood and covered with pure gold, shining like the sun. On top, there were two golden angels with their wings spread open.

Inside it, Moses placed God's laws, a jar of the bread from heaven (manna), and his brother Aaron's staff. It reminded the people that God was always with them!

"I will meet with you there and speak with you from above the atonement cover." — Exodus 25:22
