Part 1

Jesus told this story to show who our neighbor is:

A man was going from Jerusalem to Jericho when robbers attacked him, took everything he had, and left him hurt on the road.

A priest came by—he saw the man and went to the other side. A Levite came by—he saw him and also went around him.

"Who is my neighbor?" the man asked Jesus. — Luke 10:29

Part 2

Then a Samaritan came by. Back then, Samaritans and Jews didn't get along.

But when the Samaritan saw the hurt man, his heart was filled with pity! He stopped, took care of his wounds, put him on his own animal, and took him to an inn.

He paid out of his own pocket to take care of a stranger!

The Samaritan to the innkeeper: Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will pay you back when I return.

Part 3

Jesus asked, "Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who was hurt?"

The answer was clear: the one who showed mercy! Jesus said, "Go and do the same."

The Good Samaritan teaches us that our neighbor is anyone who needs our help—no matter who they are. Helping others is a way to love God!

"Go and do the same." — Luke 10:37
