The full story: The Second Journey

Part 1

Paul and his friend Silas decided to travel to tell more people about Jesus. They wanted to go to a land called Asia, but something amazing happened. God's Holy Spirit guided them in a different direction.

One night, Paul had a special dream. He saw a man from a distant place called Macedonia, who pleaded: "Come over to Macedonia and help us!". Paul understood right away that it was God calling them, and they obeyed, changing the direction of their journey.

Part 2

Arriving in the city of Philippi, Paul and Silas went near a river. There, they found a group of women who were praying. One of them was named Lydia, a seller of very beautiful purple cloth.

While Paul spoke about Jesus, God opened Lydia's heart so she would understand. She and her whole family believed the message and were baptized. Lydia invited them to stay in her home, showing her joy and gratitude.

The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what Paul was saying. — Acts 16:14

Part 3

One day, Paul and Silas were arrested for talking about Jesus. In prison, even with their feet chained, they were not sad. At midnight, they began to pray and sing hymns to God, and the other prisoners listened.

Suddenly, the earth shook very strongly! The prison doors opened, and everyone's chains came loose. The jailer woke up startled, thinking everyone had escaped, but Paul calmed him, saying they were all there.

The jailer: Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

Part 4

Afterward, Paul traveled to a very famous city called Athens. He walked through the streets and saw that the city was full of statues of false gods. This made his heart sad, because the people didn't know the true God.

Paul then went to a place called the Areopagus, where wise men gathered. He told them about an altar he saw, dedicated "TO AN UNKNOWN GOD". Paul explained that this God was the Creator of heaven and earth, and that He was close to each one of them.

Part 5

At his next stop, the city of Corinth, Paul met a very special couple: Aquila and Priscilla. They had the same job as Paul: they made tents. Paul stayed living and working with them.

They became great friends and partners. During the week, they worked together making tents, and on Saturdays, Paul went to the synagogue to talk with people about Jesus. Aquila and Priscilla helped him a lot to spread the good news.
