Daniel was a teenager when he was taken from Jerusalem to Babylon, a giant empire completely different from everything he knew.

There, the king's plan was to turn the young men of Israel into Babylonians: new language, new customs, new names. They even changed Daniel's name.

The pressure was enormous: "forget who you were, become like everyone else here".
