The full story: The Sacrifice of Isaac

Part 1

Abraham was a great friend of God. He and his wife, Sarah, had a very special son named Isaac, whom they loved more than anything.

One day, God called Abraham for an important talk. He asked Abraham to take a special trip to a mountain, and to bring his beloved son Isaac with him.

Part 2

Abraham obeyed God, even without understanding everything. He prepared his donkey, the wood for the offering, and set out with Isaac and two servants. They walked for three days.

As they went up the mountain alone, Isaac looked at his father, curious. They had the fire and the wood, but something was missing.

Isaac: Father, we have the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the offering?

Part 3

With a heart full of trust, Abraham answered his son. He knew that God was good and would take care of everything.

When they arrived at the place God showed him, Abraham built an altar of stones. He carefully arranged the wood, preparing everything just as God had asked.

Part 4

Abraham loved God above all things and was ready to obey. He raised his hand, showing his great faith and trust in the Lord.

But suddenly, a voice called from heaven: "Abraham! Abraham!". It was the Angel of the Lord! The angel told him not to harm the boy, because it was a test.

God now knew that Abraham's love for Him was true, because he did not hold back his only son.

Part 5

At that moment, Abraham looked to the side and saw something wonderful! Caught in a bush by its horns, there was a ram. God had provided the sacrifice!

Full of joy, Abraham offered the ram on the altar instead of Isaac. Because of his great obedience, God made an incredible promise to Abraham.

"I will certainly bless you. I will make your descendants as many as the stars in the sky." — Genesis 22:17
