Armor of God word search to print

The armor of Ephesians 6 is a metaphor, and metaphor is difficult content for a child. What this sheet does usefully is separate the two halves: the physical pieces (helmet, shield, sword) and the qualities they stand for (truth, faith, salvation, righteousness, peace).

The question that usually unlocks understanding afterwards: "why is the shield faith, and not the sword?". Letting a child risk an answer gives more than handing over the explanation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the reference passage?

Ephesians 6:10-18, where Paul describes it piece by piece.

Does it work with teenagers?

It does, especially as the opening of a study. For that age it helps to ask each person to pick the piece they feel they most lack.
