The full story: Joseph a Slave in Egypt

Part 1

Joseph was taken to a faraway land called Egypt. There, he was sold to an important man named Potiphar. Joseph became a helper in Potiphar's house.

Even though he was sad and far from his family, Joseph was not alone. God was with Joseph and helped him in everything he did. Potiphar noticed that Joseph was a very special helper.

Part 2

Everything Joseph took care of went very well! The garden plants grew strong, and the house was always tidy. Potiphar liked Joseph so much that he put him in charge of everything he owned.

Potiphar didn't have to worry about anything else. He knew Joseph would take care of everything properly, because the Lord was blessing Joseph.

The Lord was with Joseph, and he prospered. — Genesis 39:2

Part 3

But Potiphar's wife wanted Joseph to do something very wrong, something that would make God sad. Joseph loved God and didn't want to disobey Him.

Joseph said he would not do that evil thing against his master and, most importantly, against God. One day, to get away from her, he ran so fast that he even left his coat behind!

Joseph: How could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?

Part 4

Potiphar's wife became angry and told a big lie about Joseph. Potiphar believed the lie and was furious. He sent poor Joseph to prison.

It was a dark and sad place. It seemed like everything had gone wrong for Joseph again. But even in prison, Someone very important was with him.

Part 5

God was still with Joseph, even in that dark place. Soon, the prison warden saw that Joseph was different and trusted him very much. He gave Joseph the responsibility to take care of everything.

The prison warden put Joseph in charge of all the other prisoners. And everything Joseph did went well, because God never abandoned him.

The Lord was with him, and everything he did, the Lord made successful. — Genesis 39:23
