Paper Ark
Build Noah's ark with paper, glue and lots of imagination
Let’s build Noah’s Ark at home! This activity builds fine motor skills and helps children remember the story while they create.
🧰 Materials
- •1 small cardboard box (e.g. a shoebox)
- •Brown or kraft paper (to cover it)
- •White glue + child-safe scissors
- •1 sheet of white paper (for the animals)
- •Coloured markers
- •Optional: cotton wool for the sea "waves"
📋 Step by step
Cover the box
Cover the outside of the box with brown paper and glue. Leave the opening on top free (it will be the ark’s "house").
Make the roof
Cut a rectangle of brown paper, fold it in half into a roof shape and glue it on top of the box.
💡 Put paper towels underneath so the table stays clean.
Draw the animals
On a white sheet, draw pairs of animals (giraffes, elephants, sheep, dogs). Cut them out and glue them on the outside of the ark, as if they were at the windows.
Make the sea
Spread pieces of cotton wool around the ark so it looks like it is floating. Add a paper dove flying with a twig in its beak.
Story time
When the ark is ready, tell the story of Noah (or ask your child to tell it), from the rain to the rainbow. Use the ark as the stage.
"God remembered Noah and all the wild animals."
